Toddler Activities: Mother's Day Coupon Book and Grocery Pouch

Toddler Activities: Customize a Coupon Book with Special Ways to Help Mom on Mother's Day

mother's day coupon book or pouch DESCRIPTION

This is one mommy will want to keep...and Dads...this is an easy one to make. You can add a few coupons for mom too. :)

MATERIALS

  • 2 sheets of foam, cardstock, or construction paper about 4 inches x 6 inches.
  • Printable Blank Mother's Day Coupons Here
  • Foam Stickers or other decorative items.
  • Ribbon or Yarn
  • OTHER MATERIALS

  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Glue if you are attaching buttons, or other craft items.
  • STEPS

    1. Decorate one piece of foam or cardstock using foam letters, cut outs etc.
    2. Print out blank coupons given above or find some online. There are many pre printed ones however I think mom will enjoy the ones that children come up with at this age!
    3. Line up coupons and place inside of the two foam or cardboard pieces.

    4. Punch two holes through all pieces.
    5. Tie with ribbon, yarn, or colored raffia.

    TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS

  • Ask your child, "How can you help mommy?" You can explain that the coupons are like tickets. If your child is too young to explain well, there are also quite a number I found by simply googling online "printable mother's day coupons."

  • Foam stickers are the easiest for very young children. If you are using foam letters, you can write your message on a piece of paper and have your child find the letters that match the word.
  • Don't worry about placement of letters...as long as they are in order, it looks cute when placed a little uneven.

  • OTHER IDEAS

    Coupon Pouch

Another version of this toddler activity is to glue three sides of the foam together leaving the top open to insert coupons and make a reusable grocery coupon pouches after coupons are redeemed! Or you can punch holes on three sides and weave ribbon or string to hold it together.

    EDUCATIONAL NOTE

Mother's Day is relatively modern, and has been celebrated from about the start of the 20th century. In countries other than the United States, mother's day is also celebrated however, it may be on a different day because of the different origins. In the UK it is called Mothering Sunday and some countries refer to is as International Women's Day. If you have a special note on Mother's Day, please feel free to share it with us! We love to learn new things.
